Today, I took Lily to the movies. We went to see Mirror, Mirror at Empire Theatres. It was a Reel Babies showing, so the movie was played a little quieter than normal and the lights were on a bit so I could see the baby and they had change tables set up in the theatre. It was really nice to get out and do something social and not feel like everyone else who was there was staring at me because my baby was crying. It was also really nice to have one of the well-behaved babies there. I hope she doesn’t pick up some of the cries that she was exposed to there, there were some very loud unhappy babies there. But, it was nice because everyone was in the same situation, we all had to stop watching to feed our babies or change our babies, or get up and move around to rock the babies to sleep. So, although we were doing things that would normally be frowned upon at the movies, it wasn’t there because EVERYONE was doing it. It made me chuckle when the please no talking ad came on, I would like to know how they think a bunch of new moms and their babies are going to stay quiet through a movie! Lily really seemed to enjoy it, too. She was awake for most of the movie and even watched the screen for some of it. Of course, what infant wouldn’t, it’s lots of moving lights and shadows. All in all, a great outing and I can’t wait to do it again!
