The daughter of a dancer/dance teacher

When Lily was only 2 months old, she attended her very first dance competition.  She was held by my students in their sparkly costumes, she watched as they rehearsed and applied make-up, she wen backstage with me to watch them perform, she went into the audience with me to watch other dances, she had the teachers and students from the other dance studios chatting with her and playing with her, too.  She loved all the attention and the music.  A couple weeks later, she was in the studio for dance pictures.  And after that, she was at another dance competition.  She attended the rehearsal for the recital, but not the show as she had a cold and needed her rest.

Eat Sleep DanceThis month, she attended rehearsal for the Royal Nova Scotia Tattoo.  She watched the marching bands and her Momma dancing (although she probably couldn’t pick out her Momma).  She played with the dancers when we were not dancing.  She attended the Royal Nova Scotia Tattoo with her Momma and her Daddy on Preview night, when her Momma wasn’t dancing.  She watched a lot of the show, the loud gun shots and cannons didn’t really seem to bother her much, she enjoyed the music and the lights.  She then went backstage with her Momma during a show.  She played with the dancers, got attention from the backstage crew and the other performers (local and from away).  All around, she had a great experience at the Tattoo.

After the Tattoo was all over, her Momma took her to teach a dance workshop.  She watched the girls dancing and when they were given breaks she played with the dancers.  She had a wonderful time there, quite happy the whole time.

Her favourite thing of all these experiences was the extra attention she was given from the dancers and other people at the events.  I think that it is safe to say that my little girl will grow up to be a performer of some variety, most likely a dancer.
